FINANCIAL GUIDELINES
At Medical Eye Services, we understand and value our patients need for effective financial policies to help them obtain the best eye care possible. As a result, we believe we have a responsibility to provide our patients with ethical and standard financial practices to help them with their financial responsibilities.
Here are several guidelines that we follow:
When are co-pays collected?
Copays are collected at the time of service. This includes any insurance deductibles and outstanding balance.
What types of payment are accepted?
We accept Cash, Checks, MasterCard, Visa and Discover cards.
Will discounts be offered?
Unfortunately, there are laws preventing physicians from providing discounts. Our optical department does offer second pair discounts and value packages designed for the cost conscious patient.
Will any additional fees be charged for missed appointments, service fees, or bounced checks?
Currently, we charge $25 for missed appointments. You must notify us of any cancellations 24 hours in advance of your appointment in order not to be charged the $25. There are also additional charges added in case of bounced checks and late payments.
Will we require deposits for certain procedures?
The only deposit that is required is for the implant of an accomodative IOL for cataract surgery. This would apply to the new Crystalens, Rezoom and Restor lenses.
How do we handle self-pay, uninsured patients?
Self pay and uninsured patients are required to pay any fees associated with their care at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made with the billing department.
How many statements will we send you?
We normally send three statements spaced a month apart before placing an account into our collection process. We do ask that you pay for your services at the time of your visit.
What is our process for turning accounts over to collections?
We will send 3 statements before turning you over for collection. You will be charged a collection fee if you are placed in collection.
Will we dismiss patients that have not paid?
It is extremely rare that we dismiss a patient but it may happen if you do not pay your financial obligation. There is a strict procedure that we
follow to ensure that our patients have had an adequate time to pay any outstanding balances before they are dismissed.
